EngenuitySC has been a proud partner of Richland School District One since 2013. For seven years, the Richland One schools that we’ve had the privilege to work with have experienced increased attendance, scholarship attainment, and student and staff satisfaction. Nothing has made us prouder than to watch students build belief in their own abilities, and to see them recognize our region as a place of promise for their future.
The world changed significantly in March due to the current public health crisis; so, too, has our work. We are sad to not have the opportunity to finish out a robust Spring 2020 lineup of programs, but we support the District’s decision to suspend vendor contracts in light of school cancellations. We will spend the month of April packaging all final curriculum, program playbooks, and digital and print collateral for the District at no cost to them.
This unique moment also provides us an opportunity to reflect on our collective success with the District. Through our partnership with Richland One, we have served more than 16,000 students and 480 teachers. Our programs have been diverse, a sampling of which includes entrepreneurial workshops, the Dress to Impress soft skills training program, Middle School Girls’ and Boys’ Conferences focused on relational skills and high school preparation, engineering team competitions, and EngenuitySC’s first foray into sports management – the Rubik’s Speedcubing League.
Additionally, in support of teacher retention and long-term student success, we have created and coordinated Teacher Discovery Days, which connect teachers to companies in our region who may someday employ their students, and also to community-based tools and experiences that can augment their standards-based teaching in the classroom.
Our work with Richland One has been an opportunity for EngenuitySC to do what we do best – bring diverse stakeholders together for a common cause and manage projects in support of our region’s collective prosperity – in this case, the effort to build a strong and capable talent pipeline. Our community and our country are only at the beginning of an unprecedented and transformative era. The board and staff of EngenuitySC look forward to supporting however we may the students, staff, and families of Richland One as they endure and re-emerge from this challenge in the months ahead, and for many years to come.
