New Industrial Parks Adding Capacity

Several new major industrial parks are set to come online in the next few years in the Columbia region, greatly expanding the list of available product for economic developers and enhancing the Midlands’ capacity for growth. With over 3,700 acres of available land, these sites all offer easy access to interstate highways, airports and rail infrastructure.

CAE Industrial Park

Over the past several years, Columbia Metropolitan Airport has taken a strategic approach to developing the surrounding property, and recently began work on the 803 Industrial Park with Magnus Development Partners. With major air freight users like FedEx and UPS already located near the airport, the roughly 70-acre site is ideal for businesses looking to develop distribution hubs or access global markets quickly. Blythewood Business Park

Located right off of I-77 in one of the region’s fastest-growing areas and developed by Richland County Economic Development, this site is targeted towards advanced manufacturing and office-using industries, for which Columbia’s knowledge-rich talent pool is perfect. With almost six million square feet of space in the master plan alongside green space, ponds and streams, the ¬†park represents a thoroughly modern and environmentally conscious center for growth. I-77 International Megasite

Located just north of downtown Columbia in Fairfield County, this massive property offers an international scale attractive to a major anchor company in the automotive industry and its supply chain – think of BMW and the surrounding suppliers in the Upstate. ¬†With the capacity for multiple buildings over a million square feet and numerous smaller buildings, the site’s 1,544 acres are slated for their own rail spur and interstate exit. Sandy Run Industrial Park
