FastTrac NewVenture

You have an idea, but do you know what’s missing or what other components will help streamline your idea? That’s NewVenture. This program was designed to help you evaluate and perfect your business concept before you leave your full-time job. Through NewVenture's nine-module, 31.5 hour, program your idea will be used as a case study, giving you the opportunity to “workshop” your venture in a safe and supportive environment with other entrepreneurs.

Taught by seasoned entrepreneurs and specialized professionals in the Columbia community, you’ll explore entrepreneurship, set financial goals, develop your product's intent, build a team, and plan for a profitable business. The program is intense (but what entrepreneur isn’t ?), but the take-away is a three-dimensional look at your concept including study issues such as: What additional opportunities exist? How can you market your new business? How do you price your products and services? How do you begin to develop your budget?

You'll work with certified instructors --people with start-up business experience-- who understand the benefits and pitfalls of starting a new enterprise. And by the time you finish, you'll know whether your idea has "legs" and if starting a business is right for you.

FastTrac GrowthVenture

Building off the viability of your idea you learn with NewVenture, GrowthVenture is an eleven-module, 38.5-hour, educational program to help you look at your entire business.

This hands-on program uses your business as a case study, giving you the opportunity to put proven business practices to work. During in-class coaching sessions, you'll take a hard look at all the aspects of your company. Through the process you’ll write a new business plan to address your present and future needs. You'll also learn to identify your competition and how to address it, as well as legal aspects associated with operating a business.

FastTrac TechVenture

TechVenture is a two-phase, multi-session program created by technology entrepreneurs. The tools they provide help advance your technology venture to the next stage of business, whether that is seeking your last round of financing before going public, or moving beyond the start-up stage.

Economic feasibility is a key component for any technology venture, so technology entrepreneurs help concept, reevaluate the feasibility of the technology, design a business model that matches a personal vision, and create a business plan to communicate that opportunity to investors.

This course is divided into two parts: Feasibility Testing and Business Planning. Feasibility Testing can serve as a catalyst to complete a more formal, focused feasibility analysis for existing technology. Once you’ve proven your technology is practical, you will move on to create a business Plan.

The business plan course is designed for substantial interaction. By working closely with other technology entrepreneurs in an intense environment, you'll interact with a group of people with whom you can share ideas, strategies, and best of all- successes.
