EngenuitySC engages in a wide range of strategic initiatives designed to facilitate the growth and sustainability of an innovation pipeline in the region. The viability and vibrancy of this pipeline will be maintained by:

1. Connecting the research activities of the University of South Carolina and other higher education institutions to the business community
• Engage in leadership activities that support technology transfer and commercialization efforts
• Support development of Innovista, the University of South Carolina's innovation district
• Strengthen student involvement with businesses
• Strengthen USC research alignment with regional clusters
2. Creating an environment that supports entrepreneurship
• Improve the intellectual property transfer process
• Expand the role of business incubators
• Establish incentives to attract and retain knowledge-oriented companies
• Create technology zones with special incentives, an example of which would be the new Fuel Cell District
3. Developing additional sources of investment capital
• Attract and support locally based venture capital firms
• Create links to private investment capital sources
• Increase access to public investment capital sources
• Attract and support locally based angel capital groups
